Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

Bonnie Bee Honey ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, place an order, or subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect:

  • Your name, email address, and phone number
  • Order history and purchase details
  • Account login credentials (passwords are stored securely hashed, never in plain text)

We don't collect a delivery address, since Bonnie Bee Honey is local pickup only. We do not collect or store your payment card details directly — all payments are processed securely by PayFast, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider. We never see or store your card number.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Process and fulfil your orders, and arrange pickup
  • Send order confirmations and "ready for pickup" notifications
  • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support
  • Send newsletter emails, if you've opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time
  • Meet our legal and tax obligations

3. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to keep your shopping cart working between pages, remember your login session, and understand how the site is used. You can choose which cookies to accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Essential cookies (for example, those that keep your cart working) cannot be disabled, as the site cannot function without them.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run our business:

  • PayFast — to process your payment securely
  • Our hosting and email providers — to run the website and send transactional emails

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted password storage, secure payment processing, and restricted access to customer data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.

6. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations (for example, retaining order records for tax purposes)
  • Object to how your information is used
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and meet our legal obligations, including tax and accounting requirements under South African law.
